Sunday 18th September - Windsurf **** - River Orwell at Levington – cloudy.

Foil – 19.33 knot max, 18.34 knot ave ., 12.94 knot hour, 15.06 knot mile, 54.28 km ., 15.19 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and an Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Vulcan 6.

100 gybe foil session, after three days of foiling I am how officially knackered!

This is the third day of NW winds so hopefully I can now have a few days off especially as it is the Queens funeral tomorrow. The queue to see her at Westminster has been amazing, us Brits certainly know how to queue!
With low water just past 11 I was in no hurry to get to Levington for the second day in a row so could do my exercises in the back garden which surprised me as the wind from the North is a tad on the chilly side but we have a sheltered garden and with a little bit of sun it was quite pleasant, certainly more cloud today with a little more breeze too!
We arrived at the marina at 12.45, Mag came along so she could cycle back and was soon on her way leaving me to set up my foil board with some interesting sky’s too:) It did not look so inviting today but it looked pretty windy out on the Orwell with some yachts heeled right over so rigged a 6m today which proved ideal for most of the time! For the second day in a row the session turned into a gybe feast, doing at least 100 today, I did end up in the water 2/3 times today but I am getting knackered now especially as you can only sail fairly short runs with the wind in this direction! I did not push things too hard with the river being a little lumpy but was a little faster today apart from the alpha but I did get a good set with loads over 14 knots:) Again it is nice to sail amongst loads of yachts plus the two lunch/tourist boats up from Ipswich. I sailed 10 more miles today but with the wind once again going patchy I decided to call it a day, pack up, hot shower and home before 5 for a welcome cuppa and cake with Mag who enjoyed her bike ride especially with a tail wind, then potted up some bulbs:)

Top weekend:)
